Advertisement Plan

Presented below is the story board which I created in order to enhance my advertisement's quality. After much research had been taken out, I created this story board so that when it come to recording I knew what was going to happen and when it was going to happen. On the story board, it shows you which camera shots I plan to use, where the characters will be positioned, movement of characters etc.

Identifying Potential Problems

We have thought about the potential problems of our advertisement and, when planning, adjusted accordingly. The reason we, and all other companies creating advertisements, have done this is so that our advertisement does not run into any issues resulting in not being aired. This would then result in wasted time recording and editing the advertisement, not just ours but all of the actors too. On top of this, the money that had been put into the advertisement allowing it to be made will have been wasted.

First of all, we know that we will not get into trouble over the idea behind our advertisement as we made it entirely up by ourselves; then, looking around various video sites, we could not see anything alike. Many are in the style of comedy, but none relate to our advertisement, so we know we will be given the all clear on this aspect. The music within the advert will be taken from a YouTube video, only with the uploader allowing for us to do so; this means that we will not get into issues for he music either.

Guidelines From CAP

15.5 - Marketing communications must not condone, or encourage, damaging oral health care practices.

This may be of some concern to the CAP as we are promoting a mint which, when someone has too many, can affect oral health. This, though, shouldn't be too much of a problem as people purchasing this wouldn't have a lot at any one time; we will make it clear within the advertisement that you shouldn't have too many and it may lead to oral health issues. With that said, I do not think that people will have so many that it will affect their oral health.

10.1.4 - Guns (including replica guns), gun clubs and offensive weapons. “Offensive weapons” are items made or adapted to cause injury.

Finally, this may come to the attention of the CAP as we are using a bow and arrow within the advertisement. This is something that was used to cause harm, although we are not using it to show violence. We, again, will add a message at the end telling people to not copy what we are doing. The arrow itself is also blunt and not sharp, so it is shown to not cause any harm to anyone within the advertisement.

4.9 - Advertisements must not condone or encourage violence, crime, disorder or anti-social behavior.

This may also concern the CAP as we are using a bow and arrow within the advertisement. We fire an arrow at the mint in the characters hand, we are not promoting violence in any way as there is no fighting throughout. At the end of the advertisement, we can add a message at the end to say "don't try to re-enact anything you have seen" etc. so that people do not accidentally get hurt copying us.

Equipment List

The following is a list of the equipment that we need to record our advertisement.

Camera - Nikon p500

Cost: free (already acquired)
Records in 1080p (High Definition)

Tripod

Cost: free (already acquired)

Locations

Hainault Forest - this place is great to film as there is a lot of land to choose from and it is the exact setting we need. It links to the Robin Hood style theme we have chosen as it is a big woodland with plenty of trees and it is easy to access; it is not far away so it is also easy to get to. A potential problem of going here is that it may be very muddy and/or wet, which is not good weather to film in. Also, there is nowhere to plug in the camera if it runs out of battery at any point.

The Chase Nature Reserve - this is also a great place to film as there is a lot of land, not as much as Hainault Forest though, which is great for the scene we want. There are not as many trees, though, but we know that there is an area with a few dozen trees. A negative aspect to this setting is that we may be told we cannot film on the land, which means we will have to find somewhere else, or it may also be wet and slippery.

Actors

For this advertisement, we will be the starring in it ourselves as we know what we want to do. We will ask friends who will be more than happy to also star alongside us in the advertisement, which means that we will not have to spend money or time on paying or looking for actors. A downside to this, though, is that some friends may waste time messing around although we know we will stick to our schedule and complete this advertisement on time.

Costumes

As our characters are going to be dressing up as people from the Medieval period, we will have to purchase some costumes from a dress-up shop. We can either go to a shop or shop online instead, although I feel that going to a shop and trying clothes on is a better idea than buying them online and hoping they fit. The costumes will cost around £5 - £15 each.

Props

We need very minimal props for this advertisement, so we do not need to spend much money as we already have most items; we need a bow and arrow which I have already purchased, a packet of polos which are very cheap, and a piece of cloth which I can find at home for free.

Filming

The filming process will take no more than 3 days to do in total, if that. We can film in around 2 days and then we have a spare day if we need to record anything extra. I am confident, though, that we will record it within 2 days. The only downside to recording for 3 days is that we will have to travel to Hainault Forest which can be very time consuming and rather tiring.
