Identifying Potential Problems

We have thought about the potential problems of our advertisement and, when planning, adjusted accordingly. The reason we, and all other companies creating advertisements, have done this is so that our advertisement does not run into any issues resulting in not being aired. This would then result in wasted time recording and editing the advertisement, not just ours but all of the actors too. On top of this, the money that had been put into the advertisement allowing it to be made will have been wasted.

First of all, we know that we will not get into trouble over the idea behind our advertisement as we made it entirely up by ourselves; then, looking around various video sites, we could not see anything alike. Many are in the style of comedy, but none relate to our advertisement, so we know we will be given the all clear on this aspect. The music within the advert will be taken from a YouTube video, only with the uploader allowing for us to do so; this means that we will not get into issues for he music either.

Guidelines From CAP

15.5 - Marketing communications must not condone, or encourage, damaging oral health care practices.

This may be of some concern to the CAP as we are promoting a mint which, when someone has too many, can affect oral health. This, though, shouldn't be too much of a problem as people purchasing this wouldn't have a lot at any one time; we will make it clear within the advertisement that you shouldn't have too many and it may lead to oral health issues. With that said, I do not think that people will have so many that it will affect their oral health.

10.1.4 - Guns (including replica guns), gun clubs and offensive weapons. “Offensive weapons” are items made or adapted to cause injury.

Finally, this may come to the attention of the CAP as we are using a bow and arrow within the advertisement. This is something that was used to cause harm, although we are not using it to show violence. We, again, will add a message at the end telling people to not copy what we are doing. The arrow itself is also blunt and not sharp, so it is shown to not cause any harm to anyone within the advertisement.

4.9 - Advertisements must not condone or encourage violence, crime, disorder or anti-social behavior.

This may also concern the CAP as we are using a bow and arrow within the advertisement. We fire an arrow at the mint in the characters hand, we are not promoting violence in any way as there is no fighting throughout. At the end of the advertisement, we can add a message at the end to say "don't try to re-enact anything you have seen" etc. so that people do not accidentally get hurt copying us.
